Only few more hours left until the start of the most amusing, super exciting, highly entertaining, packed with talents Open Mic Night (OMN)!  This time OMN and De Bieb teamed up with Soul Surfers Foundation  that is celebrating the official kick-off of their Plastic Desert Project  that will start in Peru in 2 days.

Plastic_DesertThe goal of this project is to create jobs for local residents by giving them the possibility to manufacture  new products out of the  colorful plastic bags that are “decorating” the desert landscape of the coastal lands of Northern Peru. According to their website, SSF still needs donations, 10 sewing machines, ecological thread and ecological cotton strapping – minimum 1 inch wide. They are also  searching for volunteers and interns from the Netherlands and Peru as well as investors.

This is not the first time OMN is collaborating with Soul Surfers Foundation. Big Sur, that could be described as the resident band of OMN made their song The Guy’s Surfer available for download for the benefit of Soul Surfers Foundation and their Plastic Desert Project.

Big Sur

Big Sur and the sounds of Borja Rojano’s higher register will open the evening shortly after 20h followed by the always emotional performance of Dylan who teamed up with Miss Seaweed tonight. Around 21h Angry Nerds and their acoustic party rock will take over the stage. The rumor circulating is that this new band in town is a blast! And then the Plastic Desert Project will officially start and the raffle will follow. Lottery tickets cost 5e and can be purchased at the event and the main prize is beginner’s surfboard!

DumbfoundusThe stars of the night are Dumbfoundus, Noel Dashwood on lead vocals, guitar, harmonica, kick drum on one foot and tambourine on the other and Nathan (Geordie) Hawdon that plays djembe and provides harmonies. They will make you smile and put warmth in your heart on this cold day with their contagious melange of ska and reggae.

By supporting this event, you are giving the chance to underprivileged children to acquire education, life and business skills and eventually overcome trauma, so they can be THE change in their local communities!

De Bieb, Veenkade 7, 20h
